Application for the fide Language Passport

2. Upload your Goethe language certificate (upload an existing language passport in case you have that)
3. Click on the link in the confirmation email that has been sent after you submitted the Fide form
4. Your application will be processed within 1 week
5. You will receive your Fide language passport after payment by post

Why should you obtain a German language certificate by the Goethe-Institut?

• Exams by the Goethe-Institut test on all CEFR levels from A1 to C2. This is what distinguishes these exams from the Fide language passport which tests on the lower levels only.
• Faster results with the exams by the Goethe-Institut! Candidates receive their certificate within 15 workdays. Candidates have to wait for one month until they receive their fide results.
• 2 in 1! Take 1 exam and receive 2 language diplomas if you wish; a globally recognised language diploma and the Switzerland-wide recognised fide Language Passport!
• The costs for a language certificate or a Fide Language Passport are similar, this means if you take either or you will pay approximately the same. However, if you take a language certificate from the Goethe-Institut, you can apply for the fide Language Passport for only CHF 20 more.
• The Fide language passport is ideal as proof of language proficiency for naturalisation, settlement permit C and residence permit B in Switzerland.
• The language certificate of examinations of the Goethe-Institut examination are language diplomas recognised worldwide. Assuming you would like to work abroad in the future or work in Switzerland in an international company, these two certificates will support you more.
